How To Prime A Pool Pump

How To Prime A Pool Pump For Your Inground & Above Ground Pool

If you have a pool, you know that keeping the water clean and circulating is important. That’s where the pool pump comes in. The pool pump is responsible for circulating the water in your pool and keeping it clean. But before you can use your pool pump, you need to prime it.

Priming a pool pump is not difficult, but it is important to do it correctly. If you don’t prime your pool pump properly, it can damage the pump or shorten its lifespan. In this article, we’ll show you how to prime a pool pump so that you can keep your pool clean and safe all summer long.

When you prime a pool pump, you’re essentially filling the pump with water so that it can start circulating water. There are two ways to do this: manually or with a garden hose.

If you choose to prime your pool pump manually, you’ll need to pour water into the skimmer basket until it’s full. Once the basket is full, turn on the filter system and allow the water to circulate for several minutes. After a few minutes, turn off the filter system and check the basket to make sure that it’s still full of water. If it isn’t, add more water until it is.

If you have a garden hose, you can use that to prime your pool pump. Start by attaching the garden hose to the inlet port on the side of the pump. Then, turn on the water and allow it to run for a few minutes. Once the pump is full of water, turn off the hose and turn on the filter system. Allow the water to circulate for several minutes before turning off the filter system and checking the basket to make sure that it’s still full of water.

Once you’ve primed your pool pump, you’re ready to start circulating water in your pool!
